This year it goes to a rider who was a District representative at the Interclub Show Jumping - reserve champion, Cat B champion at show hunter, Junior dressage champion at Interclub teams, Reserve District Dressage team, Wainui Dressage Team and a member of the Inca Cup team. This unassuming wee dun pony has been a stalwart of Wainui Pony Club. He has not every put a hoof wrong in an discipline, guiding many of our young riders to greatness in their chosen discipline. This year this lovely pony has not missed a beat - attending pony club nearly every weekend with a placing at almost every outing.

This senior rider has been quietly achieving her goals, has really improved in her riding this last season which is evident in her outstanding results in dressage and show hunter competitions. However it is her dedication to Wainui Pony Club working with her mum during the winter months getting the new kitchen ready and turning her hand to painting new jumps, lino laying and all sorts of jobs to assist all members of our club. Thank you for being a great role model Natasha Hatton.
Most Enthusiastic Parent - Nominations from instructors and committee members - Michelle Hatton and Tania Dickson
These lovely ladies have been at every working bee, every rally and worked their toots off during the winter months installing a new kitchen for us all to enjoy! Michelle has the canteen flying and we are so appreciative of having something to eat after a rally every Tuesday. Tania needs a medal because she is so supportive of Michelle, Natasha and the beautiful Shereef. These guys are the total besties of Wainui Pony Club.
Most Enthusiastic Supporter - Nominations from committee - Kim Philips-Harvey
This person has been the go to "gal" for ideas, the problem solver, keeping riders happy and in the right place. My right hand man who has managed or finances expertly and always put her shoulder to the wheel at all times. Kim has been an absolute rock for Wainui Pon Club and our club has a massive gratitude to her for keeping everything organised and well run. I could not have don the president position without Kim right there beside me. Thank you Kim for everything you have done for all of our members.
Services to Pony Club
J.H.Russell Shield - Caitlin Metz
Eleven years on the Wainui Pony Club Committee, 2 years as Vice-President and 3 years as President. It is time for Caitlin to step aside and we thank her for her years of dedication and hard work.
Certificates of Appreciation
Clayton Whiddett – arranging logsand facilitating the Treescape log fall, and helping out cheerfully numerous times on the barbeque.
Colin Ander – course builder in waiting, who gave his time to assist building jumps, providing heavy lifting equipment, trucks and diggers. Colin was quite instrumental in preparing the course for the Area trials.
Liam Finch – We would like to recognise Liam’s input this year – tirelessly working on the cross country course, he stepped up to managing the Senior Area Team when their manager didn’t turn up and being a leader amongst our pony club riders who everyone has appreciatd and enjoyed being around. Good Luck Liam in your future Airforce dream – we are with you.
Marina Ander and Kim Phillips-Harvey – WOW our dress up team who added the BLING to the whole Bing course – which is not an easy job and last minute which saw our ladies out there working away at all hours to get the job done for the big day! Working with Bing had its challenges and opportunities nudge nudge wink wink!
Kim who has only been in our club for this year has now taken on our club Treasurer’s role as well as the District treasurers role. Affectionately known as our Chip Queen – helping out tirelessly in the canteen we so appreciate everything you have done this year – it seems like you’ve been with us for years!!
Marina in her second term with Wainui PC has taken on various very important roles and most recently took on Camp Mother at Pony Club Champs, which contributed to the success that the team enjoyed, cooking for an army in her calm and unassuming but capable way – she is an asset to us.
Jed – Gravel Man – we wish to recognise the huge contribution by Jed to all the gravel that has been deposited on the cross country – this distinguishes a course from being low level to top level. Top Class Jed.
Robertson Family – we would like to recognise their time and effort this year particularly the amazing chess jump – which we all believed would frighten the horse and parents alike but turned out to be the least controversial jump on the course but the one the riders loved the most!
Stephen Simpson – We would like to recognise a family who has returned after many years to the Wainui fold. They have their own experience in the Wainui Pony Club with Stephen’s dad Glen being a Past President!! We have so enjoyed Glen, Stephen and Raewyn’s involvement which goes back with Wainui PC before most of us here today.
